B. Hutchingson / Blues Matter!
UK

A change of direction for Michael Pickett this time around in coming up with a traditional blues acoustic CD. The album evokes the work of many top white Blues interpreters who have honed their craft after countless hours of dedication. The music sits in the 20s / 30s, and mostly has Mississippi origins or influences. Instead of trouping out all of Michael's credits I strongly advise you to check out his very impressive website www.michaelpickett.com. Most of the covers are of Sonny Terry & Brownie/Sticks McGhee material, and Robert Johnson's "Steady Rollin' Man"; the Pickett originals borrowing heavily from the Blues historical past. The more times you play this disc the more you appreciate this guy and his muse. The guy with the nice tonsils that gives good chase to John Hammond on guitar, and leaves him behind on harp; has tasty lowdown acoustic album out that promoters over here should listen to also.
